Head of Finance- Bahamas

We are seeking a highly skilled and commercially astute Head of Finance to lead the finance function of our regulated entity in the Bahamas. This is a key leadership position responsible for the full spectrum of financial management, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, regulatory reporting, and treasury. The role also includes ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements and Group financial policies.
The successful candidate will work closely with the local CEO and senior leadership team, while maintaining a strong functional reporting line to the Group CFO. This role requires a hands-on, proactive leader with a deep understanding of financial and regulatory requirements in a fast-paced, regulated financial services environment.
Importantly, the Head of Finance will be supported by the wider Group Finance team, which provides access to shared resources and technical expertise across areas such as financial reporting, regulatory compliance, tax, treasury, and financial systems.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS (or local GAAP, as required).
- Manage the entity’s budgeting and forecasting processes in alignment with Group standards.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of management reports and audited financial statements.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with the financial reporting and capital adequacy requirements of the Securities Commission of The Bahamas (SCB) and any other applicable regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and submit regulatory returns, including capital and liquidity monitoring.
- Act as the main point of contact for internal and external auditors, and for local regulatory authorities on finance matters.
Control & Risk Management
Maintain a robust financial control environment, ensuring adherence to Group policies and local regulatory standards.
Develop and maintain finance-related policies and procedures specific to the Bahamas entity.
Identify and mitigate financial risks within the entity.
Strategic & Commercial Support
- Provide financial insights to support local strategic decision-making.
- Partner with the local CEO and business leads to evaluate initiatives, new products, and expansion opportunities.
- Collaborate with Group Finance on financial planning, transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements, and tax strategy.
Group Finance Collaboration
- Leverage support from the Group Finance team for technical accounting, regulatory reporting templates, budgeting models, and financial systems integration.
- Work closely with Group Tax, Treasury, FP&A, and Financial Control functions to ensure alignment with Group processes and best practices.
- Participate in Group-wide finance initiatives and contribute to standardisation and automation efforts.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the local finance team.
- Promote a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Qualified accountant (e.g. CPA, CA, ACCA or equivalent) with minimum 7 years of experience in finance roles, with at least 3 years in a senior finance leadership capacity.
Experience in a regulated financial services business, preferably in CFDs, FX, or broader capital markets.
In-depth knowledge of financial and regulatory reporting frameworks applicable to the Bahamas (e.g., SCB requirements).
Exposure to financial systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, or similar ERPs
Strong understanding of IFRS.
Knowledge of transfer pricing and intercompany transaction frameworks.
Preferred But Not Essential:
Experience supporting or implementing automation and finance transformation initiatives.
Previous experience working with cross-border teams or in a shared services model.
